VASHON VIOLET
SYN: BRUNSWICK
DESCRIPTION
As of October 2008, I am happy to report some of the following results: "Vashon Violet" (aka "Brunswick") is perhaps the richest flavored and ranks tops or very high in taste tests. Although it doesn't produce a lot of Breba crop figs, their size and flavor make up for any lack of quantity. [Puget Sound] (092)

VIOLETTE
SYN: ELEGANT VIOLETTE BLACK (016), VIOLETTE DE BORDEAUX (016), NEGRONNE (016), SEE CELESTE
DESCRIPTION

[Also called] Violette de Bourdeaux, also called Negronne is a delightful fig - a robust bearer of dark, sweet fruit. Each fig is a deep purple, almost black. The interior is a juicy, light pink. The flavor is similar - perhaps better? - than Black Mission. The leaves are dramatic, with long slender fingers. The fruit is borne up the length of each stem. We find that this is an exceptionally hardy fig, resistant to drought and cold once established (down to the 'teens). Violette is a reliable fruit producer and generally yields one large crop here in Virginia Beach, ripening early fall. (016)
